Short version
Listn Base is label management software that runs an independent record label from one place — roster, releases, royalties, contracts and payouts, with a portal artists log into themselves.
Standard version
Listn Base is label management software for independent record labels, artist management companies and label services teams. It brings roster, releases, royalty accounting, contracts, A&R and artist payments into a single system, and gives every artist a portal where they can see their own earnings and documents without having to ask for them.
Listn Base is built by LISTNBASE, a music company based in Washington, DC. Learn more at listnbase.com.
Long version
Listn Base is label management software for independent record labels, artist management companies and label services teams — the operators running real catalogues on spreadsheets, shared drives and email, because the software built for them either does not exist or is priced for a major.
The platform covers the full working life of a release: signing an artist and recording the deal terms, planning and delivering the release, ingesting royalty statements from distributors and splitting them correctly, tracking recoupment against advances, and paying artists out. It handles the parts nobody advertises but everyone spends their week on — contract templates, publishing registration gaps, neighbouring rights filings, demo submissions, merch inventory.
Its defining feature is transparency in the direction that usually gets neglected. Every artist on a Listn Base roster has their own login showing their earnings, their recoupment position, their documents and their statement history — calculated from the same figures the label sees, so the two cannot drift apart.
The short description of each area, for anyone writing about it.
The gap was never talent — it was infrastructure.
Independent labels sign the same quality of artist as majors. What they do not have is the back office: the royalty systems, the contract libraries, the registration pipelines. Listn Base is that back office, built for their scale and priced for it.
Artists should not have to ask where their money is.
Most royalty disputes in the independent sector are not fraud — they are opacity. When an artist can open a portal and see their own numbers, calculated from the same data the label sees, the question stops being adversarial.
The unglamorous parts are where the money leaks.
Unregistered writers, missing metadata, statements that were never posted, split sheets nobody signed. None of it is interesting and all of it is expensive. Listn Base is built on the assumption that the boring work is the work.
